Innovative community participation
For when the standard options don’t fit you
Diamond Care Victoria is registered to deliver Innovative Community Participation — NDIS Capacity Building funding for participation designed around you when standard group programs don't fit. Across the City of Casey and Cranbourne, we build individual pathways into community life: mainstream clubs, volunteering, interests that don't come in a program brochure.

The idea
Not everyone’s community lives in a program
Some people’s version of belonging is a day centre and a group timetable — and we run a good one. But some people’s version is the local photography club, a volunteering shift at the op shop, a men’s shed bench, a choir. Places built for everyone, not places built for disability. Innovative Community Participation exists for exactly this: support to get into mainstream community life, designed one person at a time.
Prefer a group setting? Our day programs run Monday to Friday at our Narre Warren centre.
How we work
How we build a pathway
We start with the interest, however specific — and specific is good. Then we scout: what exists locally, what it would take to join, what support would make it sustainable rather than a one-off. Then we scaffold: attending alongside you at first, working out the practical wrinkles, and stepping back deliberately as the setting becomes yours. The end state we design for is you, in your community, with us needed less.
FAQs
Questions people ask us
How is this different from regular community participation support?
Regular participation support helps you attend activities. Innovative Community Participation designs and builds new pathways into mainstream settings — it’s the difference between a lift to an activity and an engineered entry into community life.
What kinds of ideas qualify?
Mainstream clubs, volunteering, classes, community groups, projects — if it connects you to community and builds capacity, it’s in scope. Bring us the unusual ones; that’s what this funding is for.
What funding does it use?
Capacity Building. We’ll confirm the category against your plan before starting.
What if I don’t know what I’m interested in?
Then discovery is the first phase — structured tasting of options until something lands. Not knowing yet is a starting point, not a barrier.
Does support continue once I’ve joined something?
It tapers by design — enough to make it stick, stepping back as independence grows, still there if things wobble.
