Short term accommodation
Short stays and respite, planned around you
Short Term Accommodation (STA), including respite, is NDIS funding for a planned stay away from your usual home — typically up to 14 days at a time. Diamond Care Victoria delivers STA in Melbourne's south-east with support included throughout the stay. It's a break for you, a break for the people who support you, or a low-risk trial of supported living.

Why people book
Three good reasons people book a short stay
A break that’s actually a break.
New faces, different routine, support the whole way through — a holiday-shaped pause without the logistics falling on your family.
Respite for carers.
Caring without pause wears people down, and worn-down care helps nobody. A planned stay lets the people who support you rest — which protects the arrangement you rely on.
A trial of supported living.
Considering SIL? A short stay answers the questions a brochure can’t: what shared living feels like, how you sleep in a new place, how support fits your rhythm.
What you get
What a stay includes
Accommodation, support staff across the stay, meals, and activities negotiated when you book — not a fixed program everyone gets regardless. What your plan needs to cover, and what counts as reasonable and necessary for STA, gets confirmed with you before anything is locked in.
Stay locations, the staffing model and meal arrangements are confirmed for your dates when you enquire, because they vary by property. Call 1300 765 559 and we’ll talk you through what’s available.

FAQs
Questions people ask us
How is STA funded?
From your Core budget. STA funding typically covers up to 28 days a year, used flexibly — a weekend a month, or a fortnight block. We’ll confirm your available funding before booking.
How long can I stay?
Typically up to 14 days at a time. How often depends on your plan and your goals.
Can my carer get updates during the stay?
Yes — agreed at booking: who we contact, when, and about what. Consent first, always.
Is transport to and from included?
Depends on your plan — transport can be funded but isn’t automatic. We’ll tell you plainly at booking, not on the invoice.
What do I need to bring?
Medications in original packaging with instructions, personal items, and anything in your routine that keeps you comfortable. We send a checklist when you book.
Can STA turn into a SIL trial?
That’s one of its best uses. Stay first, then talk about what permanent supported living would look like — with real experience behind the decision.
Tell us what you need. We respond within one business day.
Call the office, or send the request form and we’ll confirm your funding pathway, your suburb and whether we can genuinely deliver what you need. If we can’t, we’ll say so and point you to someone who can.
