Life skills
Skills that turn “I need help with” into “I can”
Diamond Care Victoria delivers NDIS-funded development of daily living and life skills across the City of Casey and Cranbourne — practical, repeated, real-world practice in cooking, budgeting, travel, communication, household management and self-advocacy. Capacity Building funding, real-life settings, progress you can point to.

The idea
The support that’s designed to shrink
Most supports maintain. This one transfers. Every session moves a task from our column toward yours — which is why the NDIS funds it from Capacity Building: it’s an investment with a return you keep. The best measure of our work here isn’t hours delivered; it’s what you no longer need us for.
The skills
Skills we build together
Kitchen
Planning meals, shopping to a list, cooking food you’ll actually make again.
Money
Budgeting, bills, bank apps, spotting a scam.
Travel
Routes, myki, timetables — supported trips that taper as confidence grows.
Home
Laundry, cleaning routines, keeping on top of a household.
Communication
Phone calls, appointments, forms, asking for what you need.
Self-advocacy
Understanding your rights, making decisions and making them stick.
Method
How the learning actually works
In real settings — your kitchen, the Cranbourne Park shops, the bus you’ll actually catch — because skills built in real places stay. Broken into steps that fit how you learn. Repeated until they’re yours, not demonstrated once and ticked. And reviewed against goals you set, so the plan reassessment shows progress in your words, backed by our records.

FAQs
Questions people ask us
How is this different from someone just doing tasks for me?
Direction of travel. Household Tasks support keeps your home running; life skills support teaches the running of it to you. Plenty of people fund both, and shift the balance over time.
What funding does this use?
Capacity Building — Improved Daily Living or related categories, depending on your plan. We’ll confirm before starting.
Where do sessions happen?
Wherever the skill lives: your home, the shops, public transport, the bank. Real settings, real transfer.
How long until I see progress?
Honest answer: it varies by skill and by person. We set staged goals so progress is visible early, and we report it in plain terms you can take to your plan review.
Can this connect to employment goals?
Directly — routines, travel and communication skills feed straight into work readiness.
